2016 Interior Design Trends – Rose Quartz and Serenity Pantone

Next up in our series of updates on the latest interior design trends for 2016 is a colour trend—the Pantone colours of the year, Rose Quartz and Serenity.

ANN HOARE INTRODUCES ROSE QUARTZ AND SERENITY

At first I dismissed the new Pantone colours of Rose Quartz and Serenity for 2016 as pale and uninteresting. However, when I started to look at the colours in terms of curtains, soft furnishings and upholstery I started to see how versatile the colours could be, surprisingly I particularly liked Rose Quartz, a rather muted blush colour. Both colours seem to have the ability to work with a number of colour combinations and go particularly well with black and white. Below, even lime green and dark coral have been included in the scheme. They also look fantastic with metallics such as copper:

TRADITIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY

It appears that keeping curtain treatments in these colours simple and tailored seems to be the key to making them work for both traditional and contemporary room settings. Anything too flamboyant such as added valances and swags and tails would look too fussy but feel you could get away with a tailored hard padded pelmet together with full length curtains.

The owner of this traditional room pictured below has used slim poles to hang these elegant long triple pleat headed curtains giving the room a modern up to the minute feel. The simple holdbacks enhance the design and allow maximum daylight to flood the room.
